The new Physical Agents (Noise) Directive 2003/10/EC came into force on 15th February 2006 The new requirements include: -Lower Exposure Action Valve 80dB(A) (LEAV) -Hearing Protection to be made available on request at LEAV -Upper Exposure Action valve 85dB(A) (LEAV) -Use of Hearing Protection to be stricly enforced -Limit value 87 dB - must not be exceeded at the ear - this can be achieved by means of Hearing Protection. Terminology: SNR = Simplified Noise Rating. Figures given show the level by which the ambient noise level is reduced from a given source in decibels (dB).
