A low friction film which is resistant to wear. The extruded film is more suitable for applications on flat surfaces due to is resistance to curl. The thicker film than 5490 is intended for heavier duty applications.
No. 5491 is an extruded, calendered film. This process provides an exceptionally smooth surface when applied. Resists curl on unwind and lays flat. No. 5491's thick backing extends the service life as a release surface when tape is subjected to abrasion or wear. Chemical resistance of 5491 is excellent. The silicone adhesive will be attacked by commercial organic solvents and should not be used for applications requiring organic solvent resistance. Age life of 5491 is excellent with no noticeable deterioration after normal storage of one year. Applied tape can be considered permanent if inherent limits of the backing or adhesive are not exceeded.
